Deep Analysis of S/S 2014 collections - accessories; eyewear

To be familiar with a whole S/S 2014 collection I decided to analyse all trends in accessories. Then I am going to choose my favourite trends and use them for my project. Today's post is based on different kinds of eyewear

- Narrow cat's eye
The traditional 1950s-inspired cat's-eye frame that we have seen over the past couple of seasons gains momentum for the next summer in a new narrower shape. The cat's eye becomes more streamlined and less exaggerated, appearing smaller and easier-to-wear for the less fashion-forward customer. Frames remained playful in bright white or coloured plastics, with soft blush pinks, lemon and orange peel tying in perfectly with the Modern Romance palette.

- Retro round
The small, round shades we saw for spring/summer 2013 made a return to the catwalks for the next season bringing with them a 1960s mood. The wire- and plastic-framed sunglasses came in softly tinted lenses of cool blue and rose or all-black, with occasional aviator top bars injecting a soft sports mood to eyewear, working well for the contemporary, youth and junior's markets.

- Aviators
The perennial aviator sunglasses trend shows no sign of slowing down as it continues to be a bestseller at a commercial level. Key updates for the season include a new cateye-inspired shape, as seen at Stella McCartney and Christian Dior, injecting a new fashion-forward look and oversized shape. Key details included wire top bars, coloured plastic frames, mirrored and coloured lenses.

- 70s oversized
In keeping with the 1970s mood and Nature Girl trend for spring/summer 2014, the catwalks were awash with oversized sunglasses coming in circular or more angular shapes. Coloured lenses and frames make a statement and are important for the youth customer, while the wire frame continues to be a main player keeping the look traditionally 70s.
