Oasis Of Calm - Nexus Art Cafe

On the way to another restaurant we found very unique place namely; the Nexus Art Cafe. The Nexus Art Café is a non-profit creative community space in the heart of the city centre, which works towards building community and celebrating creativity in Manchester. It is an art cafe and food is served daily until 6pm and 5pm on Sundays. It is open everyday between 10am and 7pm (from 12pm-6pm on Sundays) serving up a wide variety of delicious, locally sourced and freshly homemade food and drink. From home-made pies served with mash and gravy, to delicious sandwiches and wraps made to order, to tasty homemade specials ranging from quiches to salads and stews, and not forgetting the selection of cakes, treats, fresh fruit smoothies, juices, coffee and Teapigs tea.

The most incredible thing in this place, in my opinion, is that you can negotiate a discount on the lovely cakes by telling funny jokes.

The staff is very kind and friendly. There is just homeyness. You can feel there like in your own home. Another amazing thing is interior decoration. You can find there many comfy places to take a sit and have some rest.
It is a homey, slightly grungy basement that has great coffee, interesting art, board games and a secret garden. Another fantastic thing is that it's a non-profit organization. In my opinion, it's a kind of hidden oasis of calm right in the heart of the city.

They have really great sandwiches. My personal favourite is "Emily". (At just £4.10 this is a bargain!)
Not forgetting that the soup and sandwich deal is extremely good value for money.

ART IN NEXUS CAFE

The artwork on display is constantly changing so you'll never be bored with the interior either.
Nexus is delighted to be featuring Venture Arts' exhibition Articulate.
Articulate explores how and who we communicate with in an age of constantly changing technology and means of communication. Articulate features work by Venture Arts artists who have learning disabilities, individuals who make up some of society’s most vulnerable and marginalised people. Venture Arts are showcasing these unique perspectives about communication to help celebrate their talents.

Nexus Sketchbook
I like Nexus because it's a relaxed environment and you can have a drink whilst reading a book or you can have a nice catch up with friends or family whilst sharing a teapot (for two).Cheap and cheerful, could do with a bit more of a clean, but I am ultra-fussy and this place is good enough. I think that I would eat there again for sure. Quite an arty, students feel and so the atmosphere is always welcoming.
