S/S 2014 - Belts

Belts are definitely must have for S/S 2014

- Square-buckle belt
The square buckle emerged as the newest update to belts for next summer, appearing on a range of styles from wide, waist-cinching options to narrower everyday options. Tying in with the feminine mood for the season, these square-buckle belts were teamed with full midi-length skirts and blouse or vest combinations, creating a statement and drawing attention firmly to the waist

- Skinny belts
Super-skinny belts offered another way to make the waist a focal point for spring/summer 2014 and maintain the hourglass silhouette. Skinny belts were worn neatly wrapped around the body or looped and knotted at the side over chunky knits and outerwear. Colourways were neutral with a splash of red appearing as the favoured bright on the runways, while black was preferred for tailoring

- Waist-cincher
Elegant silhouettes were highlighted on the spring/summer 2014 catwalks by use of wide waist belts to accentuate an hourglass figure. While longer skinny belts were still present, wide-width belts dominated. Extra-wide corsetted looks were dramatic and super-cinched, while others appeared more commercial with chunky square buckles, metallic hardware and oversized plaques.

- Extra - long
Tailored and skinny belts were seen in extra-long lengths this season, worn tucked in and looped over for both formal and casual ensembles.

- Hardware feature
Impactful hardware features as both fastening and decorative embellishment in oversized proportions and dramatic motifs.

- Masculine
Women's belts take cues from classic men's styles. Slim to medium width tailored styles feature slide buckles, accent eyelets and angular buckles.

- Tied
Sash and cord-style belts up-trend this season for a casual 1970s look alongside retro 1950s box-tied belts.
